When it is Academic Freedom, and When it isn’t

A professor in Australia is in the hot-seat for saying nasty things about immigrants in an article he wrote for a local publication. Not in anyway to justify his comments, but isn’t it interesting that when professors say horrible things about Israeli Jews in their articles–as Hamid Dabashi did–it is permissible and protected, but when other groups are targeted it is suddenly unacceptable?
