Too Little and Wrong Person

I praise Colin Powell for his remarks about the destruction caused by the tsunami–and while I do, I want to make very clear that it underscores the failure of President Bush to do the same. If you ask me, the failure of the president to go visit the victims and sufficiently address this issue, more than anything else, shows his incompetence and how he is hurting the US’s potential in this world.
If president Bush was truly the great leader he sees himself as being, he’d roll up his sleeves and get down there with the rescue crews, distributing food and clearing debris. Seriously–this is just the opportunity for the president to show the world that his vision for a democratic world is built upon his compassion for people, no matter their nationality. And the fact that he has not taken this issue on faster and with more forcefulness will cost the US, and the world.
