Why would he fight?

Ishmael Khaldi, a Bedouin Israeli who lectures for Hasbara Fellowships sometimes, has an open letter posted on afterword basically calling on Jews around the world to stick up for Israel more.
Now why would he do that?
Here is one guess: who would he defend instead? Egypt? Syria? The Palestinian Authority? For all of the problems in Israeli society, it treats the Bedouin better than any other country in the region. And I mean with all of the problems–non-acceptance of some Bedouin communities included.
And if that is not a reason for the human rights crowd to defend Israel against claims of illegitimacy and racism, I don’t know what is. Yes, criticism is necessary. But outright rejection is not, and some the Jews in the ISM should think twice as to what country would treat its citizens like Ishmael Khaldi better.
