Arab Street Support of Palestine Rings Hollow

Common wisdom holds that the Arab Street supports the Palestinians, and will not rest until the conflict is brought to a just solution…but, at least in Iraq, this doesn’t seem to be the case.
The UN is reporting that “Many Palestinians who have been living in Iraq for years say they face harassment by Iraqis who accuse them of having been favored by the ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.”
Could this be an indication that the support for the Palestinian cause is no more than a tool used by regimes to stay in power–one which quickly falls into disrepair once those regimes are toppled? One thing is for certain: the new administration in Baghdad must protect these Palestinian Arab residents from reprisal, and help them become full citizens in a free, democratic Iraq.
